SUMMER CAMP:
The Hot Springs Family YMCA provides a fully licensed, Better Beginnings Level 2 Day Camp experience in the summer when school is out.
Summer Day Camp serves students 5 years old, preparing to enter kindergarten. Students age out at 13. Campers are assigned to age groups and will spend the majority of camp time with students in their same age group within one year.
2023 Theme weeks:
Week 1: Summer Kickoff, June 5-9
This is where it all begins! Get to know your camp group leaders and your fellow campers. Bring on the traditions!
Week 2: Let’s Get Messy, June 12-16
Get ready for a wacky week of icky, sticky, silly stuff created by you! This isn’t for the light-hearted; it goes way past a school science project! Come dressed to get dirty. We will make items such as gack, goop, glop and gump (and any other gooey words that we can think of)!
Week 3: Mystery, Maps & Riddles, June 19-23
Become a detective and unveil the mystery at our camp. Participate in scavenger hunts and figure out the hidden codes to unlock the riddles. Every day is a mystery, and anything can happen!
Week 4: Wildly Creative, June 26-30
Look closely and see the beauty that is all around us! Using nature as our tools, anything is possible with imagination. We'll get creative this week with projects such as leaf rubbing art, kindness rocks, and pinecone crafts.
Week 5: Party in the USA, July 3-7 *(Closed July 4th for Independence Day)
Come celebrate the USA! Explore traditional patriotic games, art, music, and watermelon seed spiting contest. End the week with a red, white & blue dance party!
Week 6: Camp Carnival, July 10-14
Welcome to camp carnival! This week will include a camper’s carnival with face painting, carnival treats, minute to win it games and camper performances!
Week 7: Y’s Got Talent, July 17-21
Let your inner performer shine at the YMCA’s very own Talent Week. Find your moment in the spotlight with activities like a lip-sync challenge, dance-off, improve skits, and a talent show.
Week 8: The Y-lympics, July 24-28
Each group will have a country and compete in Y-lympic events. Team unity and participation is essential. Some events will involve skill and energy and others will involve problem-solving. On Friday's closing ceremony one country will take the gold!
Week 9: Mad Scientist, July 31 - August 4
Put on your lab coats as we test different scientific theories and myths. Dive into a world of interactive science where day camp is your own laboratory. We’ll have all kinds of science activities, like chemistry experiments, myth-busting, and science facts vs. fiction.
Week 10: Water World, August 7-11
It’s time to get soaked! Splish and splash through an awesome, fun-filled week. Summer is hot, but you’ll stay cool with activities like water sponge games, water relays, slip ‘n slides and more!
Week 11: Camp Rewind, August 14-18
Did you love all of the water games during Splish, Splash week? Did you want to get messy just one more time this summer? Then you’re in luck! Spend the last week of camp revisiting all of our favorite activities and games as we put the entire summer on rewind.
