Water Safety and Swimming

As "America's swim instructor," the YMCA teaches children of all ages and from all backgrounds that water should be fun, not feared, if you know how to stay safe in and around water.

Garland County houses Hot Springs National Park, and is surrounded by four lakes and various rivers. Water is everywhere: 71% of the Earth’s surface is covered in it! And while water can be an irresistible place for kids to explore, play and enjoy splashy fun, it can be risky for those who haven’t yet developed their water smarts.

CAREGIVERS DON’T HAVE TO TACKLE WATER SAFETY ALONE!

Parents and guardians have a critical role to play in teaching their kids water safety skills – but they don’t have to do it alone! Each year, the Y teaches more than one million kids life-saving swimming and safety around water skills.

The Hot Springs Family YMCA has the largest swim school in Garland County. Our instructors are nationally certified and will instruct your child in  safety, technique, and life saving skills.

Note sure where to start?

The Hot Springs Family YMCA aquatic team is committed to teaching water safety and swim skills to all. We have students aging from 6 months to 99! Lessons are provided in group format or individually. If you would like more information on how to determine where your child needs are, check out our Lesson Selector HERE. If you are still unsure, reach out to our Aquatic Director Ana Love at alove@hsymca.org.
